Instead of focusing on straightforward information, consider framing your questions around interaction techniques. For example:
- Rather than:
“What is a healthy amount of screen time for a 10-year-old?” - Try:
“How can I have a constructive conversation with my 10-year-old about the risks of too much screen time, and help them agree to a healthy limit?”
This approach prompts Ally to offer guidance on:
- Tailoring explanations to your child’s developmental stage.
- Using empathy and active listening.
- Collaboratively setting rules and agreements.
- Anticipating and managing resistance or concerns.
