Building a Digital Village with Purpose and Impact
In a world where technology is woven into every moment of our children’s lives, we, Silja, a psychologist, and June, a tech executive with 25 years of experience, found ourselves facing the same question as mothers: How can we empower our children to not just survive, but truly thrive in the digital age: as courageous, responsible digital citizens shaping a better future for all?
We have seen firsthand the challenges parents and educators face today. Many of us live far from our families and support networks, often feeling isolated as we navigate the ever-changing landscape of parenting in a digital world. Meanwhile, the companies behind our children’s favorite apps and platforms are driven by metrics that don’t always align with our hopes for our kids’ well-being. It can feel like our children are caught in an invisible tug-of-war: parents on one side, desperately holding on to a sense of normal, healthy childhood, while technology companies pull from the other, competing for their attention and shaping their habits in ways we can’t always see.
Yet, we believe technology is not the enemy. When used intentionally, the right digital tools and platforms can enrich our lives and empower our children. We want to help parents, families, and educators work together to strike a balance: keeping children safe while preparing them to use technology as TOOLS in ways that are intentional, future-ready, and socially responsible. This balance equips children with the skills and mindset to navigate the digital world confidently, ethically, and as responsible digital citizens who contribute positively to society.
We founded this non-profit to build communities where parents and educators support one another, sharing advice and learning together. Drawing on our expertise in psychology and technology, we strive to nurture critical skills in children—focus, empathy, critical thinking, metacognition, and ethics—that are essential for the future. We also support one another on the journey to raise healthy, confident, and socially responsible digital citizens.
